Dress Code for Classes
Hair must be up and off face.
Appropriate dancewear for each dance style.
Required shoes for each dance style.
No jewelry. No Gum or Candy.
No jeans. No baggy clothing. (exception of Boys Hip-Hop)
Shoes and tights should be purchased @ Footsteps to ensure proper fit, color and style. RECITAL SHOES REQUIREMENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN JANAURY! THE SHOES LISTED BELOW ARE REQUIRED FOR USE DURING CLASS TIME. Most classes use the same shoes for class time and recital. If you have questions, please inquire at the front desk.
Female
Creative Dance: Ballet Any color tights and leotard. Pink ballet shoes.
Pre-Dance - Ballet, Tap: Any color tights and leotard. Pink ballet shoes, black strappy tap shoes. Please, NO patten leather tap shoes.
5-6 yr. old Classes Ballet, Tap, Jazz: Any color tights and leotard. Pink ballet shoes, black strappy tap shoes. Please, NO patten leather tap shoes. Tan jazz shoes are required for pre-jazz..
7-8 yr. old Classes Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Jazz Funk/Hip-Hop, Lyrical: Dancewear: Any color tights and leotard. Accessory items may be worn such as; dance shorts, jazz pants for jazz, legwarmers, camisole tops, etc. All accessory items must be dance related and fitted. Shoes: Ballet Class – Pink ballet shoes. Tap Class – Tan strappy tap or baby doll tap shoes. Jazz Class – Tan jazz shoes Jazz Funk/Hip-Hop – Clean Athletic Sneakers (in studio use only!) or any color Jazz Shoes. (Stocking feet is unacceptable for class.) Lyrical – Pink Ballet Shoes or Foot Undeez or Barefoot
9-18 yr. old Classes: Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Jazz Funk/Hip-Hop, Modern, Lyrical, Danceline, Tap, Pre-Pointe: Dancewear: Pink tights, solid color leotard. NO shirts or shorts allowed. Hair must be in a bun, no bangs. Optional clothing: ballet skirts and leg warmers. Shoes: Ballet Class – Pink leather split-sole or canvas ballet shoes. Pre-Pointe – Pink leather split-sole or canvas ballet shoes. Pointe shoes will be recommend by the instructor when the student is ready. Pointe: Pointe shoes must be pre-approved by the instructor for proper fit before wearing them to class. Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Danceline, Tap Classes. Dancewear: Any color tights and leotard. Accessory items may be worn such as; dance shorts, jazz pants for jazz, legwarmers, camisole tops, etc. All accessory items must be dance related and fitted. Shoes: Jazz – Tan Jazz Bootie Lyrical – Pink Ballet Shoes or Foot Undeez or Barefoot Modern – Barefoot Danceline – Black Spilt-sole Ballet Shoes or Black Jazz Shoes. Tap – Tan Strappy Tap or Baby Doll tap shoes or Black Jazz Oxford. Strength & Stretch – Barefoot Jazz Funk/Hip-Hop Dancewear: Loose fitting clothing, comfortable and easy to move in. Please, NO denim shorts, skirts or jeans. Shoes: Clean Athletic Sneakers (in studio use only!) or any color jazz shoes. Stocking feet is unacceptable.
Adult Classes: Jazz, Jazz Funk/Hip-Hop, Tap, Ballet: Dancewear: Tights and leotard can be worn, but is NOT required. Jazz pants/exercise pants, tank tops or t-shirts, clothing that would be comfortable and easy to move in. Shoes: Jazz – Black Jazz Shoes Jazz Funk/Hip-Hop – Clean Athletic Sneakers (in studio use only!) or any color jazz shoes. Tap – Black Jazz Oxford or Tan Tap Shoes. Ballet – Pink Ballet Canvas or Leather Split-Sole.
Male Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Jazz Funk/Hip-Hop Modern, Lyrical, Strength & Stretch: Dancewear: Black jazz pants, solid colored t-shirt, not baggy. Shoes: Ballet – Black ballet shoes Tap – Jazz Oxford Black Tap shoes. Jazz – Black Jazz Bootie. Jazz Funk/Hip-Hop – Clean Athletic Sneaker (in studio use only!) or any color jazz shoes. Modern – Barefoot. Lyrical – Black ballet shoes or barefoot. Boys Hip-Hop: Loose fitting, easy to move in clothing. Athletic Sneaker, any style or color. This shoe must be saved for dance only! Not for outside use. Recital shoes requirements will be available in January.
Parents & Dancers: No socks are allowed to dance in. You must have the proper dance shoes required for class. If you are undecided and not sure if the style of dance you signed up for is the class you will stick with, ask your instructor what your options are. You will NOT be allowed to dance if you only wear socks to class.
